Coastal wonders and hidden gems
Among the many treasures Florence holds, the dramatic cliffs and historic lighthouses stand out. Their majestic presence against the roaring pacific ocean offers breathtaking views and a sense of timeless beauty. It's an absolute must-see for anyone seeking to connect with the raw power of nature. Each visit reveals a new perspective of these iconic landmarks.

Dune thrills and unforgettable laughter
For an exhilarating experience, nothing beats sledding down the vast dunes of Florence. This was, hands down, my favorite activity and a highlight of many trips! I'll never forget the time Rick, daringly, took Randy's Razor for its first spin and, well, let's just say it ended up on its side, creating a memory we still laugh about today. The thrill of the ride and the unexpected twists make it an adventure not to be missed!

Seaside strolls and culinary delights
Imagine walking barefoot on the sandy beaches, the cold, damp sand between your toes as you beachcomb for unique treasures. Explore tidal pools left by the receding water, discovering various sea creatures. Then, head into town to savor the local flavors – from rich chowders to fresh fish and other delicacies. Shopping is equally delightful, with markets and shops offering everything from unique antiques to art created by talented local artists. The air fills with the scents of saltwater, fresh seafood, and the cries of seagulls, creating a truly immersive seaside experience.
Florence, Oregon is a coastal city on the central Oregon Coast, Located at the mouth of the Siuslaw River where it meets the Pacific Ocean, known as a hub for outdoor recreation like dune buggy riding in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, and for its charming Historic Old Town with lots of different shops, local artist, and restaurants and galleries.
Sand Dunes, Sandy Beaches, and Cliffs
One of the best things to do while in Florence, Oregon is go out on the beach, take your shoes off and walk barefoot in the sand. Feel the damp, cold sand on your feet. Hear the seagulls screeching in the distance as they gracefully seem to float on the air currents in the sky. Look out at the water and search for boats out in the distance, and if you are lucky you might see a whale or two coming to the surface. Buy or rent a surfboard or sled and hike up the many, steep dunes just to get on the sled and hap-haphazardly slide down, sometime going feet first but if you're anything like me you end up somehow turning backwards, and falling off half way down the hill. It's still lots of fun, even if you end up with sand in your underwear.
